A Harry Potter Philosophy of Life
Since imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...let's take our cue from Harry. Here are some of his rules to live by:
- Don't hate people who have wronged you (Like the Dursleys). That's just sinking to their level.
- Do the right thing over what is easy. Remember Cedric? Listen to your conscience.
- Be nice to everyone, regardless of what you think of them. People won't believe anything bad about you...and it makes people who don't like you mad.
- Sport is important (ok, maybe you can't play Quidditch, but it's important to exercise and be healthy!)
- If you can help someone, do (even if they're a Slytherin). You never know when you'll need their help in the future.
- Don't just stand by and let bad things happen if you can do something to stop them.
- Always tell the truth (but little white lies can be ok sometimes...especially if it's "Yes Hermione, of course your hair looks lovely...").
- Do things for a reason. And "everyone else is doing it" doesn't count.
- Never punch someone, even if they are Malfoy and they just said something nasty (instead wait for McGonagall to punish them, or for a Hippogriff to attack them...)
- If someone has long, greasy black hair and then are completely horrible and you can't stand them, you can probably trust them.
- If in doubt, ask yourself, "What would Harry do?"
