2000 and Great: 8 Reasons why 2008 will be Awesome in Fandom
1. New Music
With albums due from Ministry of Magic, The Butterbeer Experience, RiddleTM, The Chinese Chomping Cabbages and the Whomping Willows to name just a few, and new bands popping up all the time, this year is destined to be full of wizard rock!
2. Conferences!
Portus, Accio, Terminus...this year we're being spoilt for choice. Plenty of opportunities to meet fellow fans and discuss the series we all love. What could be better?
3. Gigs
Wrockstock II, Wrock the Boat, Wrock Chicago, to name the biggest...as well as loads of others all over the world. Music is spreading even further and wider this year.
4. Fanfiction
What's the betting there'll be a surge in fanfiction now that the series is complete? That can only be good news!
5. The Ministry of Awesome
Every band gets their day of fame. (Ok, it started last year, but it deserves the props). Spread the wrock love around!
6. Be Awesome Month
We have to mention this. In February, we'll be changing the world one good deed at a time. AND we're supporting the Harry Potter Alliance.
7. The new movie!
Billed for release late this year, Half Blood Prince could be really great!...or not. We'll just have to wait and see.
8. Social change
As the fandom expands, more and more like-minded people are coming together to take a stand against what the HP Alliance calls "the Muggle Mindset". With lots of peole doing this and a rising number of projects donating their profits to charity, this year the fandom stands poised to make a very real difference in the world.
